With the theme of this, Sparx Up time hoping the startup world country could be more excited. Therefore, the lack of innovation undertaken by the startup with just imitate foreign site, in the long run will lead to unhealthy development of the digital world in the homeland.
Another thing that was highlighted was the lack kemaunan the founder to think about the viability of the site in the long run. Emerging phenomenon, founder only intend to sell the ownership of the site only. This is unfortunate because the potential of local start-up is huge.
Expected start-up can be encouraged to maximize its potential, building a typical local market, and think long-term business model. As much as possible of this business model can survive and succeed without the investors though.
Sparx Up Awards 2011 Registration has opened for local start-up began on August 1, 2011 and closed on October 2, 2011. Further online judging will commence and the winner announcement will be made on October 21, 2011. In order to maximize the program, there will be a series of activities such as roadshows to the campus and the digital community as well as regular seminar every month after the announcement of the winner.The jury consists of the digital players are experienced, consisting of Amalia E. Maulana, Andi S. Boediman, Andrew Dervish, Andy Zain, Antonny Liem, Aulia Masna, Edi Taslim, Fajar Budi Prasetyo, Handono Warih, Jerry S. Justianto, Marlin Sugama, Nanda Ivens, Nukman Luthfie, Steve Christian and Wicaksono Hidayat.
Inside Sparx Up Awards 2011 competition, participants are divided in 8 categories and its winners will be selected from each category. These categories are:1. Best Social Networking Site - This category is for websites that provide facilitiessocial interaction to users via web or wap.
2. Best Use of Technology - The site that promotes new technologies or modifications to a creative and useful in this category.
3. Best E Commerce - This category is for websites that provide facilities for commercial transactions between users (B2B2C), such as online market.
4. Best Games - This is a special category for web sites that provide games, whether online or offline.
5. Best User Generated Content - This category is for websites that provide a means of interaction between visitors (web 2.0). All content created by visitors and to be consumed by visitors.
6. Best Portal - Category for the portal is a web site that serves as a gateway or portal that provides all-in-one source of information of all kinds. Besides the standard features of search engines, web portals also provide some services such as e-mail, news, database, information, and entertainment.
7. Best WAP - This category is for WAP sites on your mobile phone. In general, display more text than pictures. WAP site design should consider the small screen size factor.
8. Best Mobile Application - This category is for specialized application development on mobile handsets. Creativity in developing features that can be used in applications on the maximum cell phones.
The highlight Sparx Up on awards night will be filled with talk of webpreneur (Digital Experts, owner of one of the largest sites in Indonesia), the site of the finalists exhibition, entertainment and notices for the winner. This year will be held session of 'Reserve Pitch' which is dedicated to local start-up. 'Reserve Pitch' is present to explain about the Venture Capital / Incubation and all information about the investors as the reason why they make investments to local start-up, the things into consideration, barriers and benefits sought and how to interpret it.
Sparx Up also held road shows to campuses that are considered as a community Sparx Up and as a medium of verbal communication. The program also supported the community such as Fresh and Local Startup in Jakarta, FOWAB (Web Forum Children Bandung) in Bandung, BANCAKAN 2.0 in Jogjakarta, SUWEC (Surabaya Web Community) in Surabaya and Subali (Startup Bali), Bali.
