Apple Allegedly pours 21 Million USD for the Swiss Railway Clock Designs

Remember the case of the clock icon in iOS 6 that reportedly copied the look and feel of hours owned Swiss Federal Railway (SBB) some time ago? Yes, when it was Apple invites 'sit together' SBB, and seems to be paying some money to get a license. Only, not yet known how nominal Apple should pay to the SBB.

To note, historically, at which emulated Apple's design is the design of Hans Hilfiker, who also works for the SBB in 1944. At that time also, the clock has been recognized as an example of a design icon of the 20th century by the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Design Museum London.

When the clock knows SBB design used on iOS 6, which slid in September, the SBB initially said it would not require payment of compensation or royalties to the Apple. On that occasion SBB spokesman, Patricia Claivaz said: "We are quite proud of the brand Apple uses design our class".

Regardless of sympathy for a company that was brought up by Steve Jobs, the Claivaz remains committed to meet the Apple to discuss the case at the Apple design use without any authorization / notification. And, in the middle of last month, the two sides agreed on a deal that would allow Apple to license the designs at the train station for its smartphone OS.

Well, last Friday (9/11) global news agency quoted an AFB info from the Swiss newspaper, which revealed that Apple will pay USD 21 million (Rp201 billion more) for the rights to use the design.
